In the ICY BOX enclosure IB-1817M-C31 you can install an M.2 NVMe SSD and connect it directly to your PC, laptop or MacBook via a USB-A, USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port. From an M.2 NVMe SSD you can turn it into an external storage with extremely high transfer rates. The enclosure is suitable for M.2 NVMe memory with M-key pinout (PCIe 3.0 x4/x2) and form factor 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280. Memory modules with a B-key and a SATA (AHCI) connection are not compatible. Via the fast USB 3.1 interface of the 2nd generation (USB 3.1 Gen 2) transfer rates of up to 10 Gbit/s can be achieved. The USB 3.1 port is fully loaded by an NVMe SSD and reaches up to 1000 MB/s. The lightning-fast USB port is joined by a modern USB Type-C plug. It is not only twist-proof, but can also be used on a Thunderbolt 3 port. So the case is also suitable for MacBook and other modern notebooks. A USB 3.1 cable with Type-A connector is also included. A unique ICY BOX cooling system ensures optimal heat dissipation: after the M.2 SSD has been mounted, it is equipped with a thermal pad. Then a thin layer of aluminium is placed on it and the entire component is pushed into the housing. The cooling pad and aluminium level create direct contact with the aluminium housing, so that the resulting heat is optimally dissipated via the outer cooling fins. The case also has a manual write protection that can be switched on and off with the included mini tool. This allows you to completely prevent writing processes and protect data. A status LED indicates whether the write protection is active.

• Versatile: the enclosure supports all common lengths of NVMe SSDs (22x30/42/60/80). So you are not only dependent on a single length, but can choose variable.
• Very fast: USB 3.1 (Gen 2) provides transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps. So your data is transferred super fast. This enclosure can also be used for a mobile operating system.
• COOLING: The heat inside the heatsink is ideally directed to the outside of the case via the heat sink and silicone heat pad. This keeps the NVMe SSD cool even under full load.
• Safe: The case has a write protection switch on the front. This ensures that data can be read, but it is not possible to change it.
